The Tesla electric car, the sports Tesla electric car, the green Tesla electric car, Tesla electric car statistics, Tesla electric car facts.
The Tesla is assembled on the Lotus production line in Norwich, England, with the battery from Thailand, the instrument panel from South Africa and the money to make it from the USA, it is truly a global car.
The car has a carbon-fibre body and can accelerate from 0-60mph in 4 seconds with a top speed of 134mph, the means of this supercar propulsion is an electric engine powered by a battery made up of 6,831 liquid-cooled, lithium ion cells the same that is used to power laptops, the Tesla has two gears, a high-torque gear that takes it up to 60 as fast as it can and another gear for more normal driving, the battery has a range of 250 miles and can be recharged in three hours.
It is actually a very good car for people who like to listen to music when they are driving because it makes no noise apart from a noise like a hairdryer on full speed and it has a Blaupunkt CD player and dash-mounted speakers. The first 100 cars built were all sold within the first three weeks for $100,000 each for delivery in 2009. At the moment the Tesla is only being sold in the US because the company that makes it wants its own engineers to service it, and will collect the cars on a flat-bed truck, take them to a workshop, rotate the tyres and check the electrical system.
The good news is That Tesla is developing a four door, electric saloon car which will be big, fast and efficient, and we should be seeing that in the near future.
